Michaud Statement on Troop Withdrawal

Statement

Today, Congressman Mike Michaud issued the following statement after President Obama announced that U.S. troops would be removed from Iraq before the end of the year:

"Having visited with our troops in Iraq, I know how hard they've worked to accomplish their mission. I've been seeking a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq for years, and I'm glad we're getting closer to that goal.

"We've lost too many Americans to this war and many more have come back to us wounded. While our presence in Iraq is winding down, we must never forget that the cost of war extends beyond the battlefield. As our men and women come home, we must ensure they have a seamless transition and get the health care and support that they've earned."
